The Crew Behind the Designs

We've been at this for over 15 years, turning big ideas into even bigger venues

Marcus Chen

Marcus Chen

Principal Architect & Founder

Started LumiVex back in 2010 after spending a decade working on some major stadium projects across North America. Marcus has this thing about making sure every seat in the house has a killer view - he's honestly obsessed with sightlines. When he's not sketching arena layouts, you'll find him at Raptors games doing "research".

LEED Certified 20+ Years Experience
Sarah Kowalski

Sarah Kowalski

Lead Acoustic Engineer

Sarah joined us in 2013 and changed everything about how we think about sound in arenas. She's got this incredible ear for catching acoustic issues before they become problems. Her background in music venue design means our sports arenas actually sound amazing - not just look good. She's worked on concert halls, theatres, you name it.

Acoustic Specialist 12+ Years Experience
David Okafor

David Okafor

Sustainability Director

Dave's the guy making sure our projects don't just look good but actually do good for the planet. Came on board in 2016 with a mission to prove that big venues can be eco-friendly. He's constantly pushing us to try new green tech and materials - sometimes we think he's crazy, but he's usually right.

Green Building Expert
Jennifer Park

Jennifer Park

Interior Design Lead

Jen makes sure the inside of our arenas feel as impressive as the outside. She joined in 2018 and brought this fresh perspective on fan experience and space flow. Her work on premium seating and hospitality areas has honestly set new standards. She gets that it's not just about moving people - it's about creating moments.

Our Journey So Far

From a small studio to designing venues across Canada

2010
The Beginning

Marcus started LumiVex in a tiny office with just three people and a dream to revolutionize arena design in Canada. First project? A community hockey rink renovation that taught us everything about listening to what users actually need.

2013
Game Changer

Landed our first major arena project - a 8,500-seat basketball venue in Calgary. Sarah joined the team and introduced acoustic engineering that made everyone sit up and take notice. This project put us on the map, honestly.

2016
Going Green

Dave came aboard and we pivoted hard into sustainable design. Completed our first LEED Gold certified arena in Vancouver - proved that big venues don't have to be energy hogs. This became our signature approach moving forward.

2019
Expanding Horizons

Team grew to 25 people. Started taking on entertainment venue projects beyond sports - concert halls, multi-purpose arenas. Jen joined and brought this whole new dimension to our interior work. We were officially doing some seriously cool stuff.

2022
Award Recognition

Won the Canadian Architecture Award for our multi-sport complex in Montreal. That same year we hit 50 completed projects. Started getting calls from all over North America - wild to think where we started.

2025 & Beyond
What's Next

Currently working on three major stadium projects and exploring some cutting-edge tech integrations. The future of arena design is getting pretty exciting - can't wait to show you what we're cooking up.
